What is CYRUS?
CYRUS is a community token for the Persian diaspora, honoring the legacy of Cyrus the Great (Kourosh-e Bozorg). It is built on the TON blockchain with Telegram integration.
The Mission
CYRUS was created as a symbol of unity and national revival, rooted in the legacy of Cyrus the Great and the Zoroastrian values that shaped Persian civilization. Its mission is to empower the global Persian community through on-chain governance, community treasury management, and cultural preservation.
The Cyrus Cylinder (539 BCE) — recognized by the United Nations as the world’s first charter of human rights — proclaimed religious freedom, abolished slavery, and established the dignity of all peoples. The Zoroastrian creed of Humata, Hukhta, Hvarshta (Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds) underpins these principles. CYRUS translates them into a modern, community-led framework.
What CYRUS Does
CYRUS is a coordination tool for the Persian diaspora — a way to organize, fund, and govern shared initiatives transparently and without centralized control.
Governance
Token holders who stake their CYRUS receive veCYRUS — non-transferable governance power that lets them vote on treasury allocations, community proposals, and protocol changes. Governance is staking-based: commitment (locking tokens for longer) earns more influence than simply holding more tokens.
Treasury
50% of all CYRUS tokens are held in a community-governed treasury. Sale proceeds from the bonding curve also flow to the treasury. These funds support cultural preservation, humanitarian aid, educational programs, and diaspora coordination — as directed by governance votes.
Community
CYRUS connects the global Persian community through shared ownership and participation. Regional “chapters” (organized via Telegram) allow local communities to propose and manage initiatives relevant to their area.
What CYRUS is NOT
- Not a meme coin — CYRUS has a specific governance framework, treasury model, and cultural mission
- Not an investment — There is no promise or expectation of financial gain. Token value may go to zero
- Not controlled by a single person — Governance is progressively decentralized, moving from foundation stewardship to full community control
- Not exclusive — Anyone can participate regardless of background, nationality, or ethnicity. The mission is rooted in Persian heritage but the values — tolerance, dignity, justice — are universal
Why TON?
CYRUS is built on the TON blockchain because of its unique fit for this community:
| Advantage | Detail |
|---|---|
| Telegram integration | 900M+ Telegram users globally. The Persian diaspora already coordinates heavily through Telegram groups and channels |
| Mini App support | Governance can live inside Telegram as a Mini App — no separate dApp to download |
| Low fees | Transactions cost $0.01–$0.05, making participation accessible to everyone |
| Speed | ~5 second finality for responsive user experience |
| Wallet accessibility | Tonkeeper, TON Space, MyTonWallet, and Telegram’s built-in wallet lower the barrier to entry |
| Jetton standard | TEP-74 provides a mature, well-tested token standard with decentralized architecture |
The CYRUS Foundation
The Cyrus Foundation (cyrus.ngo) provides initial stewardship during Phase 1. The project is designed to transition to full community governance as staking and proposal systems mature in Phase 2 and Phase 3.
Key principles:
- Minimal leadership — The foundation exists to bootstrap, not to rule
- Institutional, not personal — No cult of personality. The foundation is a legal entity, not a figurehead
- Progressive decentralization — Authority transfers to token holders as governance infrastructure matures
- Transparency — All foundation actions and treasury movements are publicly verifiable on-chain
